Make an even amount of chain stitches to measure the width of your cushion insert.
I made 50 chain stitches for the width of my cushion cover which measured 35cm x 35 cm.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hk, * ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch, rep from * to the end, turn.
Row 2: ch 3, 9 loop puff stitch into 1st ch-1 sp, * ch 1, 9 loop puff stitch into next ch-1 sp, rep from * across, dc in last st, turn.
Row 3: ch 1, sc in 1st dc, ch 1, * sc into next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * across, ending with sc in top of tch, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 alternatively as many times as required for the measurement of your cushion that you require.
Wrap your crochet cushion cover over your cushion insert so it sits where you would like it to be.
Cut as many 20cm yarn strips as you need and use them to tie knots into the sides of each dc and ch-3 edges to create a seam.
You can do the same for the cushion flap or you can use just 1 yarn strip on both sides of flap to secure it. You could also add buttons and use the spaces between the puff stitches as button holes.
